The Treaty of Paris

  The Treaty of Paris was a huge event when the representatives of King George III from Great Britain, and the representatives from the United States signed a contract to end the American Revolutionary war. This took place in Paris, France. It happened on September 3, 1783. The war started on April 19, 1775, so this means the war was 8 years long!

  Just because Great Britain and United States signed the contract, it doesn't mean that they were only in the war. Other countries, such as, France, Spain, and Netherlands were in this war. On January 14, 1784, Congress of the Confederation ratified the Treaty of Paris. On April 9, 1784, King George lll to ratify the Treaty of Paris, it took about a year and a half after the battle of Yorktown. On September 3, 1784, US and Great Britain started it they had to sign the contract. America's negotiators, Benjamin Franklin, John Adams, and John Jay signed the contract. Great Britain's negotiator, David Hartley also signed the contract. The terms for the contract were that the US gained freedom and independence and that the British could no longer own the thirteen colonies. The second term was that the boundaries of the US will grow in terms of the Western Expansion. John Adams

One of the American Negotiators of the Treaty of Paris. John Adams is the 2nd president of the US and is the signers of the Declaration of Independence.

John Jay

One of the American Negotiators of the Treaty of Paris. John Jay is one of the founding fathers of the US.

Great Britain Negotiator

David Hartley

He was the British negotiator that signed the Treaty of Paris. He was also a philosopher.
